Lengthening Essays
Increasing the size of periods in your essay can have great results, depending on how long your essay is. Many times a 5 page essay can turn into 6 just by using this method.
1. In Microsoft Word - After you are done with your essay and need it to be longer, Hit Control+F on your keyboard and a window similar to this should pop up.
2. Select the Replace tab.
3. Type a period into the Find what bar. Then put your cursor into the Replace with bar. Then select the More >> button.
4. After Selecting the More >> button, make sure you place your cursor back into the Replace with tab. After your cursor is placed into the Replace with Tab, Select the Format Button that shows up. When the drop down list appears, select font. (If your cursor is not in the Replace with tab when you select font this wont work.)
5. When this Window appears, Select the font you typed your essay with or any other standard font like Times New Roman; select regular font style, and chose size 14 font. The bigger the font the long your essay will be. I recommend 14 because it is practillay impossible to notice. Sometimes you can get away with 16; just try different things out and see what you like. Once you have selected a font size , hit the Ok Button.
6. Now type a period into the Replace With tab and Select Replace All.
7. Finally, after selecting the Replace All Button a message box should pop up that confirms your replacements similar to the one below. You can now hit OK and clost out of this Window. You will notice that your essay has increased in length.
